Alom Shaha

Alom ShahaAlom Shaha is a film-maker, science writer, and public speaker, whilst still finding time to teach Physics at a Comprehensive School in London. He has a reputation for making science and other difficult ideas easy to understand for mass audiences, having worked as a creative consultant on projects from community arts events to children’s TV programmes.

Alom has written, produced and directed a number of films about science, ranging in subject matter from particle physics to mathematics. Many of his films feature high profile scientists including Prof. Brian CoxDr Tara Shears and Prof. Marcus du Sautoy. He also knows what it's like to be on the other side of the camera, having presented himself. He has worked on a variety of BBC Science series, including Horizon, What the Victorians Did for Us and Science Shack. 

Alom's creative approach to science communication has been recognized with a fellowship from the National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts (NESTA).

In his own words, Alom has 'a passionate interest in science education and working closely with scientists to help them tell their own stories'. This can be seen in his back catalogue of films, where the brightest minds in science take their turns at explaining some of the most difficult areas of the School Science curriculum.
